Sculptor Uladzimir Zhbanaw leaves lasting legacy

 

Prominent sculptor Uladzimir Zhbanaw, who died a sudden death on January 16 at the age of 57, will be remembered thanks to his sculptures that liven up streets in Minsk.

Born in Minsk on January 26, 1954, Uladzimir Zhbanaw graduated from Minsk Art School in 1973 and from Belarusian State Theatrical and Art Institute in 1979. In 1993, he became a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists.

Mr. Zhbanaw is the author of a number of landmark sculptures in different Belarusian cities. They include "Girl Under an Umbrella," "Lady With a Lapdog," and "Carriage" in Minsk, "Stargazer" in Vitsyebsk and "Fountain" in Maladzyechna. //BelaPAN
