Regime has done everything to crush the Belarusian people, not only opposition, Kazulin says

The Belarusian regime has done everything to crush its own people, not only the opposition, Alyaksandr Kazulin, an opposition candidate in the 2006 presidential election, said during a round-table discussion on political prisoners in Belarus, which was held in Minsk, on Thursday.

The regime “has destroyed the individual, destroying honor, conscience, dignity and all sacred values that exist, and we, Belarusians, tolerate this,” Dr. Kazulin said. “What else should the regime do for us to realize this and unite?”

According to Dr. Kazulin, the situation in the country has only been deteriorating in the last two decades and the Belarusians should blame themselves, and unless they realize this, the political prisoners will remain in prison. “It is necessary now that all political parties, movements and human rights defenders should unite into a national salvation front, as the nation is on the bring of abyss,” he said.

“Our goal is to gather all together to decide what else we can do for the political prisoners. There`s always something that can be done,” said Yuliya Fralova, an activist of Belarusian Christian Democracy.
