Anatol Lyabedzka fined $350 at his trial in Valozhyn
Anatol Lyabedzka was sentenced to a fine of 1,050,000 rubels ($350) at his trial Thursday in Valozhyn, a city some 40 miles northwest of Minsk, for “disobeying a lawful order from an official on duty”.
On February 15, Mr. Lyabedzka stayed in Valozhyn to support Teresa Sobol, the ousted manager of the Polish House in the nearby small city of Ivyanets who was facing a suit for allegedly illegally taking control of the House.
As Mr. Lyabedzka told BelaPAN, it was not accidental that his trial was scheduled for March 25, as opposition activists were expected to stage a demonstration in Minsk and he planned to attend the event.
