The government will continue efforts to combat excessive red tape, Alyaksandr Lukashenka told reporters on Wednesday, as quoted by BelaPAN.
"The tough measures that we are taking now are aimed at developing and solving the issue of cutting red tape in the country," he said.
"I directed in a tough and even brutal manner that they sort out this horrible trouble - bureaucratism."
The Belarusian leader noted that he had ordered a campaign to examine how government officials respond to complaints and appeals from the public.
Mr. Lukashenka announced that he would discuss the "highest-profile cases" in public. "We will make it a firm practice. This has nothing to do with any political, electoral campaign. I don't need this," he said.
