Copies of US greatest works of art on display in Minsk

An exhibition showcasing copies of the United States' greatest works of art opened at the National Library in Minsk on March 10, BelaPAN reports.

On display are copies of 40 landmark paintings, sculptures, photographs or architectural structures created over a period of more than 200 years.

Visitors can see, among others, reproductions of paintings by Mary Cassatt and Thomas Hart Benton, photographs by Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange, and images of the famous Fallingwater house and Chrysler Building.

While opening the event, Raman Matulski, director of the National Library, expressed gratitude to the US embassy for arranging the exhibition.

US Charge d'Affaires Michael Scanlan said that the exhibition was traveling across the world, reflecting the United States' artistic legacy and offering an insight into what has inspired US artists for more than 200 years.

The diplomat expressed hope that the exhibition would encourage Belarusians to learn more about American culture.
