Heads of EU`s diplomatic missions lay flowers at Kurapaty
The heads of European Union member countries’ diplomatic missions based in Minsk visited Thursday Kurapaty, a woody place just outside Minsk where up to 200,000 people are believed to have been murdered during Stalin’s purges in the 1930s.
"It has become a tradition for European Union diplomats to gather at the site on or around Dzyady, Remembrance of Ancestors Day, to honor the memory of the victims of the totalitarian regime," said the press office of the EU Delegation to Belarus.
The diplomats laid flowers at the hilltop stone that marks the place chosen by Belarus` government for a memorial expected to be erected in commemoration of the tragic fate of the people murdered and buried at the site, said the press office. //BelaPAN
