Alyaksandr Lukashenka has sent his Christmas and New Year wishes to a number of foreign leaders, said the presidential press office.

In particular Mr. Lukashenka sent his greetings and postcards to the leadership of Russia, Orthodox Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, as well as the presidents of “CIS, European, Asian, African, Middle East and Latin American states,” including Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, said the press office.

Mr. Lukashenka also extended his New Year wishes to the heads of international organizations, Russian provincial governors, famous politicians and other public figures, as well as representatives of business circles, it said.

“I am convinced that our constructive, multi-facet partnership will continue to assist the implementation of the strategic cooperation potential of Belarus and Russia and provide new impetuses for integration between the two states,” Mr. Lukashenka said in his message to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

In his message to the president of Kazakhstan, Mr. Lukashenka said that the expansion of cooperation with his country was of “great importance” to Belarus. Belarus “appreciates the mutual understanding and trust between the two brotherly states,” he noted.

Mr. Lukashenka has also received “numerous” New Year greetings from foreign leaders, the heads of international organizations, prominent politicians and other public figures, said his press office. //BelaPAN
