Belarus' opposition youths call on USA, Europe to recognize independence of Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia
Malady Front (Young Front), Belarus’ Czech-registered opposition youth group, has called on the United States and Europe to recognize the independence of Russia’s regions of Chechnya, Dagestan, and Ingushetia.
In its statement issued on August 27, Malady Front condemns what it calls Russia’s imperial ambitions and “violent and armed invasion” of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which the organization says are part of sovereign Georgia.
"Last month's events showed the world that Russia's violent policy is aimed at restoring the Soviet Union and an 'empire of evil,'" Malady Front says. "The Kremlin's occupation policy should be condemned by all civilized nations."
"In response to Russia's occupation of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and the recognition of their independence, America and Europe should recognize the independence of the Republics of Chechnya, Dagestan, and Ingushetia, which have fought for independence for many centuries," Malady Front says.
"If this is not enough to stop Russia's aggression, the international community should consider recognizing the independence of other autonomous republics within the Russian Federation, such as Adygea, Altai, Buryatia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Kalmykia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Karelia, Komi, Mari El, Mordovia, Sakha, North Ossetia, Tatarstan, Tuva, Udmurtia, Khakassia, and Chuvashia," Malady Front adds.
